      Customer Service Representative Interview

      26 Aug 2011
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Family Video in Jan 2010

      Interview

I received a call for my first interview almost a week after submitting my application. It was conducted during business hours in a corner of the store (we had to move a few times to make room for customers). It consisted of fairly easy questions. The manager was more or less judging my personalitiy. At the end I was informed that I would need to take a test and if I passed I would be called in for an interview with the district manager. I was advised to 'dress up' for the second interview as if I were attending a business meeting. I was also advised to be even 'bubblier.' I passed the test easily enough (even though it was also conducted during business hours, in the open store, and timed). My second interview was conducted literally in the middle of an aisle. The district manager pulled out fold-up chairs and set them up between two rows of movies. At least we only had to move once for customers. I was asked quite a few personal questions that actually bordered on illegal. The questions were asked in a manner to encourage me to reveal my home status (married, children, etc). Basically, they try to find out if you'll be able to drop your 'home-life' at the drop of a hat to come in whenever you are needed. It wasn't a difficult process, but from beginning to end it lasted almost a month and was carried out in a rather unprofessional manner.

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Family Video

      Interview

They have you take several timed tests for part of the interview process. The tests involve things such as alphabetizing, math, and others. Besides the tests, they also do the typical spoken interview with questions.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Family Video (Omaha, NE) in Sept 2019

      Interview

Short - asked what I wanted in a job and what I'd bring to the table. Offer made on the spot. Pretty standard interview process. I guess I have to write 30 words so now I'm there.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Family Video (Peoria, IL)

      Interview

The interview process was in 3 parts. I first met with the regional manager for one interview. Then i met with the regional manager again for a timed math and problem solving test. Lastly, i met with the district manager for the final interview. Overall, wasn't too terrible of a process, definitely not the most difficult I've ever had.
