I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at FVRL (Abbotsford, BC) in Jun 2018
Interview
I was asked to prepare 2 ideas for potential library programs and to perform a storytime. I was interviewed by a Library Manager and an HR representative. The HR rep didn't smile once, she even remained stone-faced during my storytime performance. I was asked 20-30 questions, many of them were the same only worded slightly differently, so I repeated the same answers. I was offered the position 2 months after the interview took place.

Question 1
Give an example of a problem you had at work and how you resolved it.
Was flown out to the interview after an initial skype call. The morning of the flight I was sent and email project the hiring manager had forgotten to send me a week before. They had made the flight with a layover in Calgary so I missed my connecting flight and worked on the presentation at the airport. Luckily I had brought my laptop with me. I was able to get to abbotsford where the interview was taking place but had to pay for my own cab ride to the library which was expensive. I then had to wait an hour for the interview and gave my presentation on the future of library outreach services for disadvantaged populations. I would later find from someone who works in FVRL that the position was already saved for someone else and I was the throw away interview done for the union. I still feel the hiring manager purposely sent the assignment late to me. I had tried to explain to the other panelists the crude nature of the presentation but I was cut off by the person who sent me the assignment saying I missed my connection and then made a joke about why I shouldn't live in Northern Alberta.
