      Software Engineer Interview

      12 Sept 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Zimmerman, MN
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at FBS Data Systems (Zimmerman, MN)

      Interview

Applied through a recruiter and heard nothing for a while. Then a coding challenge, then another long wait, then an interview. After this, I received a coding challenge, which was reflective of the legacy nature of their code. I sacrificed several hours including my day off to finish the coding challenge, then got a final interview with their dev team. The final interview was fine. After putting me through all of this work, they went with someone more, and someone less experienced and all the time I spent on that legacy coding challenge was wasted. In the end, I feel I dodged a bullet because of how impersonal the process was.
