EDR (Event Data Recorder) is an electronic system in a vehicle that records important vehicle parameters before, during, and after a crash event. It is often called the "Black Box" of a vehicle, similar to an aircraft flight recorder. The primary purpose of EDR is to help manufacturers, investigators, and regulatory agencies understand what happened during a crash and improve vehicle safety.
