      Electrical Apprentice Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 9 months. I interviewed at Everlight Solar (Madison, WI) in May 2021

      Interview

My experience is as it reads, my own. You may have a better experience as an applicant with this company in the future, who knows. But below is my experience that I'm going to share. Interviews were interesting, you do get to learn about your employer and the culture. It does seem like a good company at first glance; They have a very intimate corporate vibe, as in treating each other like family and with respect. There is a lot to love on paper about this company, and one of the aspects that I deeply respected and resonated with was participating in local charities & volunteering with the company. Now onto the application itself, my application was processed within 2 weeks, and I went through multi-stage interview over the course of a month. Everything was either online over zoom, or over a phone call. However, it took them 5 months to give me an official follow up and set up a trial date a week from then, along with hours long onboarding orientation to complete online. The trial wasn't even for the position I applied for, as they found another more desirable candidate to fill the spot. I agreed to their trial for another position out of respect and willingness to learn more about the company. After completing all the pre-requisites for starting, as well as exploring available online materials, they proceeded to cancel the trial just 3 days prior to the trial date. I was baffled at this point at their "scheduling error" that they claimed it was, as they had filled another candidate for my trial timeslot. I always gave the benefit of the doubt, and so I patiently waited for reschedule. I was never contacted again until 4 months later for an in-person interview. They retracted this opportunity 2 days later from non-response. Mind you, I'm already working at another company full-time from day into midnight when they suddenly had the idea of getting back to me. At this point, it was putting a whole lemon in my already sour tasting mouth. If you run somebody through your almost-year-long hiring and onboarding process while making them jump hoops, no one is going to take your company seriously. No one with any self-respect is going to wait around for months on end no matter how good your company is, especially when you do not respect your applicants' time. This was easily the worst hiring experience I've ever had, and that's saying something for a company that's so well-rated over many platforms. As for Everlight Solar, you should review your talent acquisition team and hiring/onboarding process. There is a serious lack of proper communication and flaw if you can toss an applicant around for a year. I get all companies these days want that PPP loan, but at least be honest about it and don't waste people's time. This endeavor was a massive disappointment, and I will not interact with Everlight Solar again in the future.

      Interview

Did a zoom screening. Extremely awkward. Felt like the screener had a gun to their head the whole time during it. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was prerecorded because of how fake it felt.
