      Product Manager Interview

      28 Sept 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Nashville, TN
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Eventbrite (Nashville, TN) in Sept 2018

      Interview

The interview process was one of the most intense I've ever had; I had submitted my resume online, and I received a response within a few days asking for a time to do a phone screen. The phone screen was time-boxed to 30 minutes (all of the meetings & phone calls I experienced were time-boxed in some fashion), and after an initial discussion with a current Product Manager (their position-label for a Product Owner), was told that someone would contact me soon thereafter. About two days later, I was contacted to schedule an in-person interview, which took about two weeks to schedule as there were six people I was going to talk to in one marathon four hour long interview. During the wait between scheduling and the on-site interview, I was asked to prepare a 30 minute presentation which was to focus on a pitch for a potential feature or standalone app. The instructions said to not spend more than 3 hours on my preparation, which was insane - of course it took more than 3 hours (by a factor of at least 3). The actual on-site interview process was done almost completely by video conferencing (I literally met with *one* person who actually worked on site), and I found that portion to be pretty off-putting. But, I will say that everyone was really nice to speak to, and asked good questions; I felt I could have kept talking with them long past the 30 minutes allotted to each interviewer, and there was a good mix of roles in who was tapped to interview me. After the interview, I was contacted with news that they weren't going to go forward with an offer for me due to a lack of experience on my part, which wasn't an unfair critique - I'm moving into this career from an unrelated field with minimal experience, so I was pretty impressed I got as far as I did. I do, however, feel like they probably knew that I wasn't a good fit from an experience position prior to running me through the ringer - otherwise, I would have expected them to give me some detailed reasons other than that blanket reason for why they decided against making an offer. However, they look like a great company to work for, and I appreciate that they gave me the opportunity to apply. :)

      Project Manager Interview

      1 Jan 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Eventbrite

      Interview

5 total rounds including a screening process. The interviews each were the same, and quite honestly very relaxed. It was like they did not care to interview. When asking about the day to day and what working with the teams were like each person said that the other interviewer had a better understanding of how’d you work with others, which felt like a red flag.

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Eventbrite

      Interview

Initial phone call/zoom with the recruiter. Then a zoom with the hiring manager. Again (this seems to be the norm in a lot of unprofessional companies) , set up time and date, then email ON the day to say the job has been filled. At least it wasn't while waiting for the interview to begin like another company I reviewed.

      Product Manager Interview

      21 Apr 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Eventbrite in Apr 2021

      Interview

First interview with HR, then followed up 3 days after with a 30 min interview with Senior Product Manager, where we discussed my previous experience, and did an exercise. Interview was only 30 mins so we had to rush a little bit. We reviewed the role, what the company was looking for, and my past experience. The exercise was aimed to understand candidate´s mindset towards specific scenarios in the Product management scene. Exercise was a bit long, there were many questions associated to it, so its good if you write down in paper while listening to the questions, to organize your speech better.

Thanks for sharing your experience interviewing with us! I am glad to hear it was a positive experience. We'll look into the duration of the interviews as well as the exercise to see if there is anything we can do to balance that a bit more. Thanks for your feedback!
