Don't play yourself. Even if you are in the bottom 50% of engineers, I wouldn't bother applying. The initial screen was filled with scripted questions and scripted answers to my questions. Interview felt like I was interviewing with an NPC at best who wanted to cram 30 questions into 15 minutes. Black and white questions about number of customers, MRR, monthly growth %, etc. were not disclosed or interviewer did not know (🚩). When I delved deeper into their business model, it seemed like there was a misalignment between the mission: "bridging the wealth gap" and how they are actually making money: renters who cannot afford to buy a home. Just like one of those start-ups that say they're curing cancer but in reality they're just doing the same thing everyone else is doing - selling 💊. Interviewer told me to read the role description for some more in-depth questions I asked regarding the role (more 🚩).
