I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Esri in Jul 2010

      Interview

Interviewed with two recruiters, Sales Manager, Potential Colleagues and HR. It was a very smooth and organized process. The questions were thorough, the office environment was warm, friendly and inviting. I met with 5 people while onsite for the interview including a video conference interview with the Director

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Esri (Chesterbrook, PA) in Nov 2023

      Interview

I submitted an application at the beginning of September and heard back from the recruiter very shortly afterward that the hiring manager would like to meet with me. I was extremely excited and we scheduled the call for September 14th. I met with the hiring manager for the sales training Consultant position and we had a fantastic conversation. He asked me about my work history and also provided details about his leadership style and a further summary of the position, culture, and benefits of the company. He also let me know that the timeline for hiring would be around the middle of October and that I would hear back shortly regarding whether or not I would progress on to the next round. Additionally, he mentioned that should I not be selected for the role, he would be willing to provide feedback to me. I followed up with the hiring manager to ask additional questions on 3 separate occasions with no response. Almost 4 weeks later, the recruiter reached out and I was moved on to the next round. A one hour long screen with the recruiter. The hiring manager did not answer any of my emails until 2 days following the recruiter’s outreach (4 weeks following the initial interview). Regardless, I maintained a positive outlook and met with one of the team members working for the hiring manager. He was excellent, and I appreciated his honesty and experience. After around 2 weeks, I heard back that I would be moving on to another interview meeting with other directors/ managers on the team. I scheduled the interview for the last Friday in October- 2 weeks after the hiring date that the hiring manager mentioned on our first call. On October 30th (the Monday after I had my interviews with the directors), I again reached out to the hiring manager to let him know that another company had offered me a position. ESRI was still my first choice and so I asked if there was any update that he could share regarding my candidacy. I received a note that he was OOO, and then waited 3 days before reaching out to the recruiter who updated me a day later that there would still be one more interview step the following week. Next, I waited until 4 business days had passed, and I requested another update from the recruiter- as my attempts to get in contact with the hiring manager were futile at this point. Three days later, I received a message from the recruiter that they were proceeding with another candidate. To put this into perspective, I had 6 interviews over the course of two months- I requested feedback 3 times over the course of that week from the Hiring manager and as of today (11/15/23) I have not heard anything back. While I enjoyed speaking with the recruiter, and I enjoyed speaking with the directors and team members, I was appalled at the lack of communication from the Hiring Manager. I have shared this experience with my professional network and I truly hope that this gets resolved for future candidates-put simply, I hope this changes how future candidates are considered. I believe Esri is an amazing company filled with great people, but the experience with this hiring manager is entirely unprofessional. I recognize that I may be burning the bridge of ever being able to work at ESRI, and I hope this is not seen in that manner; If I were the CEO of Esri, I would want to know about a Hiring Manager who lacks timeliness and organization. I have tried to reconcile and justify why a Hiring Manager may behave in that apathetic manner- but the rationale escapes me. I truly hope that you are able to fix this for future candidates.
