I recently interviewed for a BI Technical Analyst position with the company. This is supposedly a senior level techno-functional role. I was asked to take a SQL test which actually makes sense for entry level roles but I haven't seen administered to senior level professionals. The minimum score requirement was 80 and I fared way better than that. This was followed by a phone screen. Most of the technical questions were quite basic SQL. The out of the left field question was – “how would you go about obtaining functional requirements for a "Toaster"? Yes, a toaster! Now apparently my toaster skills aren't as good as my BI technical or business analysis skills. I was deemed unqualified over a toaster!
