      I interviewed at Empatica

      The company hires very slowly, even deliberately so as they said the interview process "can go as fast or as slow [we want] as long as we find the right candidate". The problem is that they are cryptic/deny to share what the salary is for the position (soon to be ILLEGAL if not disclosed in Boston MA), yet require multiple rounds of interviews spanning over weeks to months. 30 min interviews with #1: Initial HR rep, #2: Hiring Manager, #3: More HR reps. Then they require you to come in-person for a full 8hr "final interview day where we'll give you tasks that you would normally do on the job if hired". They made it sound like a task-based trial workday, yet didn't mention compensating the candidate for their time (which you should in the USA according to Federal law). Finally, they require 2-3ish more interviews w/ the CEO and their founders. For a small company, this is a lengthy and time-consuming hiring process and there were 1.5-2 week lapses of complete silence "waiting to hear back" in between each interview. I found it strange that they didn't introduce any potential peer coworkers despite demanding so many rounds of interviews. Again, this could come down to a cultural/communication gap but the lack of transparency and respect for the candidate's time reflected poorly. They don't seem to have a robust technical stack (and potentially customer base), they weren't clear about future goals/objectives in terms of company growth besides just mentioning they are like a startup with changing priorities.
