      People Advisor Interview

      20 Aug 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Reading, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ESP Global Services (Reading, England) in Aug 2024

      Interview

3 stage interview process - one screening call for an hour, 1st stage with HR VP for an hour then a face to face 2nd stage with the two HRBPs. The interviews appeared to go very well with the HR VP making all the right noises re: my experience, fit for the business etc., then was told at the end of the 2nd interview (on a Monday) that they’d let me know their decision by the Friday, then nothing. Ended up having to chase for feedback the following Tuesday and got a pitiful generic response on the Wednesday that apparently they’d been “overwhelmed with applications” so I hadn’t been selected. Except that I had been selected and put through three interviews! By that point, they had narrowed down to a handful of candidates so there was no way they were “overwhelmed” and should have had the decency to provide proper feedback given that I gave them several hours of my time to attend the interviews. I requested feedback again and, unsurprisingly, they have chosen to ignore me now. The fact that they slated their existing HR Coordinators for not responding to employee queries and being selective about who they did respond to before behaving in exactly the same way towards me is a massive red flag. I dread to think how they treat their employees if this is how they treat interview candidates. Bitterly disappointing.

Thank you providing your feedback, and thank you for the time you took in attending interviews. We value our people and are sorry that your interview experience was not a positive one. ESP would not want any candidate to experience a delay in the provision of feedback, but in rare circumstances a slight delay can be experienced. With this specific role in mind, ESP was experiencing a continuous and high response of applications to our job advertisement, and between sourcing and pipelining activities and organisation of a number of interviews for the position, a short delay in the provision of feedback to this specific candidate occurred. However, ESP called the candidate to provide feedback on their application and we have apologised for any delay the candidate experienced. We wish you the very best in your future endeavours.
