      Instructional Designer Interview

      Application

      I interviewed at ELM Learning

      I applied online.

      Interview

I received an email from one of eLearning Mind's recruiters indicating that I had to take their Positive Assessment Tool (PAT) as a preliminary step before an interview would be scheduled. Per the recruiter, "the PAT will evaluate different dimensions of your personality characteristics as well as your leadership styles. Any attempt to present an ideal or overly favorable image may be detected and may disqualify you from further consideration. Do not discuss any items or your answers with anyone else while you are completing the PAT. You must complete all questions within 30 minutes." I took the assessment which had question such as "it's ok for a child to steal" and other personality-related questions. The next day I received an email that stated, "Thanks for taking the time to complete our assessment. Your credentials and qualifications are truly impressive and we are confident that you have a lot to bring to the table, but at this time we have decided to continue our search." I did not get an opportunity to discuss the test results or even find out why eLearning Mind decided to continue their search. What is interesting is that another individual had two interviews THEN was sent the PAT as part of the background check. I would suggest that eLearning Mind not be so inconsistent in their interviewing practices, as currently it appears to be somewhat unethical.

Dear Interview Candidate, Thank you for your review as we are always committed to follow a very specific interview and hiring process. We will be certain to follow up with the team. One clarification is that in our PAT we do not have a question that you stated above "it's ok for a child to steal". We wish you luck in your job search.
