I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Directive (Salt Lake City, UT) in Nov 2023
Interview
I only had one interview, which was okay. I thought the interview was friendly, but had what I consider unnecessary questions. I was later met with great disappointment with how the process was going to go. As a motion designer, I find it extremely disrespectful for companies to ask you for a task or a test. As designers and animators, we have already spent much time working on our portfolio, demo reel, cover letter, etc. For a company to ask you to do a final task or for you to do a specific type of animation so you can be considered for the role is extremely rude. Especially since your work should already speak for itself, this clearly shows what kind of company they are. I was also later asked if I had any examples of previous worked focused in certain areas and if I could send them examples. Which I also find unnecessary. The only two reasons you will not find a certain type of work in someone's portfolio is because either they haven't done it or they are not proud of that work.
