      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Delta Air Lines in Oct 2011

      Interview

Applied online the day of the job posting date. You take a personality test online as part of the application and if you pass they will send you an email saying you are a possible candidate. Received a phone call 2 days later. They will call you from a private number so if you have caller ID then be prepared for a phone interview. Otherwise, don't pickup and call them back when you are ready (they will leave a call back number). Phone interview is harder than the face to face a lot of questions in STAR format (situation, task, action, result). Some of them are customer service related but they are not uncommon questions asked in other interviews. Some examples would be something like when was a time you went out of your way to help a customer? Describe a time when you did not get along with another employee. Pretty typical questions but I just woke up and listened to my messages on my phone and returned the call not expecting a phone interview since they just ask you to call back in the message. I did a really crappy job of answering the questions so I didn't expect to get any future response from them. The lady who interviewed me on the phone told me at the end of the interview that the application process was now fully complete and if they were interested they will contact me. Delta called me again 1 week after the phone interview and asked me to schedule a face to face interview with them which would take place at the airport which you applied for. They will email you very specific instructions for what you need to bring to the airport and what to do. You need to follow these instructions very closely because failure to do so will most likely mean you won't get the job. One such example would be they ask you to print and bring your online application which you'll need for the face to face interview. The face to face interview was much easier than the online phone interview it was pretty much questions that were also in STAR format but they are more related to the job as a baggage handler. They asked me 5 questions and 3 of them were safety related questions and other 2 were basically questions that made sure that you would be able to work at any times and any shifts and be willing to lift bags up to 70 lbs consistently. Hardest question was something like tell me a time when you had to make a split second decision and what was the outcome. Very non-stressful interview. If you pass the face to face which I think everyone who went to interview that day did (there was a large group of us), then they will give you a conditional job offer on the spot. Basically this just means that you have the job provided you are able to pass the background check, drug test and physical.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Delta Air Lines (Tampa, FL)

      Interview

I had the conditional job offer, did the drug test, physical abilities test and background check. After that, I never heard a thing about anything. To add insult to injury, I saw that online it went from “Position Offered” to “Under Review” then to the archived section. Now, it says that I wasn’t selected. I’ve emailed the recruiter emails and have not gotten any responses back. You don’t leave someone hanging like that. That is very unprofessional. At least email me or something to let me know what happened.
