I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Deliveroo (London, England) in Nov 2020
Interview
I applied directly through Deliveroos website. I had a response within 2 weeks asking me for an initial interview.
The first interview was 30 mins over the phone, not with HR or Recruitment but with a manager who used to perform the role I had applied for, they were very forthcoming with details about the role, asked me to go through my CV and asked a few competency based questions and was told that the whole process could be a further 3-4 interviews and possibly a competency test, but that this had not yet been decided. On the call there was also some uncertainty regarding the salary however the interviewer agreed they would get this confirmed for me and for me to let them know about my thoughts about the role.
I emailed the interviewer after the interview with my thoughts about what was discussed and my salary requirements as they went away to confirm the banding.
The interviewer emailed me back within a week with the salary band and asked if I was still interested, I was and the interviewer informed me that it was great news as I had set the tone for all of the other interviews conducted for the role and they were more than happy to have me for a second interview.
Second interview was with a member of the team and a manager from the same business area it was pencilled in for an hour but ran to 1hr 20, again I was asked to run through my CV and was asked relevant questions for the role. I asked a number of questions about how the role was currently conducted and expressed how I could bring my experience to become more proactive and less reactive which they explained is a change they needed to make, whilst there were some questions the interviewers were unable to answer.
I received an email 3 days later from the first interviewer with the generic, 'thank you..tough decisions..wont be progressing' to which I asked for feedback as the feedback from the initial interview had been so good, however I am yet to receive a response.
I chased a week after asking for feedback saying it would be helpful to understand the decision for future applications however have still received no response.
Overall though I got the impression that they were more concerned with getting someone in to upskill their current staff rather than someone to help direct the analysis required of the role. If skills are lacking in the current team, ofcourse new team members should be able to help with that but if that is the main focus as it appeared from the interviewers then either training should be provided to current staff or if this is something staff wish to proceed with then they should look to do this outside of work to improve their own skills.
It appears however from my experience and from the posts on this site that Deliveroo do not provide feedback once they are done with your application despite stating that they will keep your details and be in contact should any other jobs arise that you may be suited for.
Thank you for taking the the time to write this up and I'm sorry to hear that you haven't received feedback. Please could you drop me an email (jamieedwards@deliveroo.co.uk)? I'll see what I can do.
HR screening call. HR was from HK and was late without apologies. Show no interest in sharing about the role. Probably interviewing others with internal candidate in line. Waste of time
Good overall, I think it went well. The feedback seemed positive and it all seemed okay generally so nothing too much to complain about. This is probably very friendly interview in all fairness as they were very nice but overall I enjoyed it.
