      Recruitment Marketing Manager APAC Interview

      25 Apr 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Singapore
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Datadog (Singapore) in Apr 2022

      Interview

5 interviews and a pretty difficult presentation. A lengthy process that was managed reasonably well until the very end. I was rejected for the role. In and of itself, that's fine, it happens. But, the way it as handled was poor: I received an email from the recruiter on Friday asking for a call on Monday, with no context. Who does that? I didn't need to be kept in suspense only to be rejected - and they refused to say over email what the outcome was. That was a big flub, and I'm calling out because, had a candidate committed a flub like that, it would've been fatal to their application. Also, overall: Doesn't seem like they have their act together. When asked about KPIs: 'We're defining them'. When asked 'What do you want to see done in this role', was told 'Oh whatever works we don't want to prescribe'. When asked 'How do you measure Cost Per Hire?' Was told 'Oh, we're still defining that too.' Uh...guys, really? You can't be THIS clueless about how to run the recruitment marketing division. It sounds to me that, considering how much hasn't been defined, and the fact that the person coming in will have to come up with a lot for themselves, the Manager designation is not an accurate representation of what you are looking for. Sounds to me like you should be hiring a Recruitment Marketing Director.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      1. What are the first things you would do when you join in this role? 2. Tell me about a time when you had to handle a difficult situation. 3. Why are you interested in the role? Overall, the questions were not difficult, but the process was lengthy and very tiring.
