Application
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Datadog (London, England) in Jun 2021
Interview
- Initial screening with someone from human resources.
- Code exercises with an engineer.
- Shared a couple of open-source projects instead of doing the take-home exercise.
- Series of four interviews: another code challenge, a systems design interview, a management interview and a general culture fit interview with a director.
- Four informal post-process discussions to fine-tune the team match.
The process went quite well, everyone was friendly and genuinely interested in what I had to say. I had many opportunities to ask questions and reverse the interviews. HR systematically gave detailed feedback and kept me in the loop all along. Overall an enjoyable experience and a well run process.
Congratulations on your offer! We are glad to have you join the team. Thank you for sharing such great feedback on our process. We really appreciate the time and energy you've invested in it.

Interview
What I liked the most was the candidate experience. Since I was approached by the recruiter, she spent a lot of time with me giving me advice, asking for my needs and motivations and communicating a lot on every step. I really appreciated this.
The process is quite long, but it's fast. They have a lot of flexibility to do the interviews anytime that works for you (all at once, or 1-2 per day, for example). They asked me to choose between a home assignment and a streamlined live coding.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Live coding of a simple React application, Coding interview to process and group data, product team management and leadership interviews, based on past experiences and behavioural.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Datadog in Mar 2020
Interview
I started with a few orientation interviews to check what were my motivations.
Then I had a series of technical interviews, where we went from general technical discussions to deep dives into systems I worked on.
I was assigned a home project.
Everyone was always super friendly. None of the interviews were done in stressful conditions. All my questions (technical & more general) were answered thoroughly.
The overall process is long.
