Honestly, the interview process was rather quick. Applied for said position on a Saturday and instantly received an email from HR (located in the UK) that Monday for a pre-screen. After passing the pre-screen process, I was then invited for a F2F @ the Jersey City location. My interview consisted of two managers with one of the managers conducting his portion of the interview via video conference since he was located in Tampa. Thought it was quite strange that neither manager background was Tax, and more tailored towards the Reorg industry. When asked about a particular Tax form outlined within the job description, the manager (as I perceived as the dominant manager) couldn't provide any particulars and stated they've only came across that form about three times during the tax season and that his experience level was low in "other words". But yet this is one of the forms that would be used to report undistributed capital gains for their clients, however said manager have no expertise concerning such. Another red flag. In addition, because the role required someone that had previous team lead and/or supervisory experience as broadcast during the interview, I wished the job description listed the incumbent working in that capacity because if so, I would not have wasted my time interviewing or wasting gas to travel from Central Jersey to North Jersey if the managers preferred the candidate to have had previous managerial experience.
What I gather from the process is that this role concentrated on Corporate Action Tax Reporting as oppose to Tax Reporting as a whole. Very misleading because again if I had known they were seeking someone to reclassify a Cash Div or report on Corporate Action tax consequences only, then I would not have applied. There was certainly a disconnect between the job description in contrast to the Managers explanation of what they were seeking in the potential candidate. The day after my interview, I received two rejection emails as if one wasn't enough. First the automated, then the personal email from the UK HR person. Hopefully, going forward they'll be more transparent on who they are seeking...
