I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at DISH in Aug 2021
Interview
Overall, I was disappointed in the lack of transparency through the interview process. After four interviews, two technical challenges, and a culture fit assessment I was told by HR to expect an offer within a few days.
I got a call after three days and was told that they were ready to make an offer, but they asked if I could do one more interview because there was another team that I may be a great fit for. I did the additional interview and was then asked if I could do another interview with their team lead. I did that interview as well.
Finally, after this nearly three month process, the offer I was given was $20k less than the amount I asked for at the beginning of the interview process. The amount I originally asked for I was told was, “well within my reach given my skill and the role."
When I asked the HR rep how this happened, he said that during the three months I had been interviewing they hired someone for my original role and they can only offer me this alternative role. He basically said they like to “cast a wide net” when interviewing because the process takes so long and they can’t guarantee there’s a position available when you get to the end of it.
I wish this was communicated to me at the beginning because I turned down another job offer thinking I was going to work for Dish.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DISH (Denver, CO) in Oct 2025
Interview
1st - 20 minute phone interview with recruiter
2nd - 30 minute interview with hiring manager
The interview with the hiring manager was highly disorganized and unprofessional. The manager read from a script and was not conversant in our conversation. Only looking to check some boxes rather than see me as a person. She also requested I live code and to pull up and IDE when I was at no point of the interview process informed that was going to apart of it. The laptop I had at the time was absolutely new and I was unable to login to my online IDE. She did not pay attention to my responses and often did not answer my questions about the company.

Interview
All Dish Network employees introduced themselves and allow me to do the same.
Manager provided details concerning the position and Dish Network. Manger ask a few scenario related questions and then more technical questions was asked by the other Dish Network interviewers. Questions where answered by me as they were asked until the closing point where I was given the opportunity to ask questions. From my perspective,
The interview was educational and infighting.
Thank again for the opportunity!!
