My HR interview went very well and was very professional and thorough. But after a week of not hearing back, I emailed asking for an update and did not receive one until another week later.
So it took 2 weeks to find out I was not moving forward. I understand that no decision had made due to interviewing other candidates but a simple reply saying so would have been appreciated.
I made a tiny mistake during my coding interview that was a syntax error. I thought the question was easy and my logic was correct. Disqualifying someone due to a tiny mistake gives the impression that I was being "disqualified" instead of "qualified" for the position. And for the code review portion of the interview, I was caught off-guard. I had been told by HR that the coding interview would be "code agnostic" but I was forced to read and debug C# code even though I warned that my C# was rusty as my current role does not require it. Despite this, I answered the questions. It makes no sense that I would not move forward. It does make me question if any other factors were at play here such as age/race/gender because I was very different from my interviewers in all 3 categories.
