      Brilliant Receptionist Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Creekview Realty (Plano, TX) in Mar 2016

      Interview

I'm a bit late in posting this but I'm going to go ahead and describe my experience. After I applied online a gentleman by the name of 'the owner' called me to schedule an interview at their office in Plano. I looked up the company's website for driving directions and did not have a problem finding the office. Once I get to the office, this lady of Asian descent (forgot her name) tells me 'the owner' will not be interviewing me. The interview consists of the typical education/work questions, followed by an area and percentage math problem. It took me a few minutes to solve a fairly easy math problem since I was nervous. I asked her if my answer was correct and she told me it was. I know that most employers probably see an associates degree from a community college as worthless .I tried to communicate to the interviewer that obtaining my associate degree in science expanded my problem solving and math skills, and helped develop an eye for accuracy. The interviewer proceeded to ask me questions about my ethnicity/ national origin and asked if I have children. I'm not a person that gets offended easily but this was the first time I was asked these types of questions at an interview. I know that national origin and sex are federally protected classes and federal law prohibits discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, and genetic information, as well as reprisal for protective activity. I could have easily filed complaint at the EEOC but it's not with my time. I did not get a job offer. In my opinion, any company that asks questions regarding ethnicity or having children is probably not worth my time.

      Question 1

Tell me about your previous work experience. Are you Hispanic? How many children do you have?
