Coursera Android Engineer interview questions

I received an interview request from Coursera through a hiring platform. After the initial call with the recruiter I was asked to complete a take home assignment administered through hacker rank. The assignment description repeated multiple times that they were looking for clean, well architected code and the UI should be kept simple. I checked my code extensively to ensure correctness, optimized operations and laid down a solid architecture. To top that off, I also added some UI polish. After that, I received a note saying that my code didn't make the cut. All of that hard work and to be denied even an initial interview to discuss the take home assignment is extremely insulting. I might not be willing to do these assignments anymore after this horrible experience.
