      Software Engineer Intern Interview

      11 Feb 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CourseKit (New York, NY) in Jan 2012

      Interview

Process consisted of two interviews; the first was a phone interview which was a general discussion of experiences and expectations. The second was a coding interview conducted over Skype. The interviewer presented 2 problems. The explanation of one of the problems was unclear due to the different meaning of a word in the context of one programming language. Otherwise the questions asked were straight forward, one of the more practical nature and another which was based on CS theory/fundamentals. I found it difficult to code live in a Google Doc with another person watching me as I tried to think through the problems. All communications with the company were timely and professional and I was informed quickly after the final interview that I would not receive an offer.
