      Software Engineer Interview

      22 Oct 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Constellation Energy in Mar 2011

      Interview

I came in as a contractor under an SOW contract. I was working in a remote office and so the interview was all over the phone. Several different people, one or two at a time. Fairly typical process. The people were all pleasant with no "trap" questions

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Normal questions about my previous experience as well as some specific ones about the technology I claimed to know.

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Houston, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Constellation Energy (Houston, TX) in Mar 2023

      Interview

Applied online, was contracted by recruiter soon after, and then had an online technical interview conducted by a manager, software engineer, and product manager. During the technical interview, little introduction was given about the role or the people. Jumped straight into coding. I was not able to answer some of the questions, and at one point the manager conducting the interview laughed at me. I communicated that I could not solve the coding challenge, but the manager continued to drag out the interview to the full hour allotted. Stressful experience, especially when hiring manager themself laughs at you. Would not recommend you interview here.

      Interview

Since I had the experience I was able to portray my profile and the questions were based on STAR leadership principles followed by technical questions. It was a panel of 4 and the question were mostly based on what I worked on.
