Entire Process: 1 Month
Application: 13JUN25
First Interview: 15JUL25 (Informed 3 days before on weekend)
Second/Final Interview: 22JUL25 (Informed 1 day before)
The first interview was with a hiring manager and while termed in the initial email as a phone call, it instead was as MS Teams meeting. The call went well and consisted of standard behavioral questions, why you want to work for Con Edison, and what you know about Con Edison. This stage went well and extended into a final round of interviews dropping the number of candidates (disclosed by hiring manager from 13 candidates to just 3).
1st Interview Questions:
-What project management principles do you know and how did you employ them?
-what is your career story and how did you find us?
-Tell me about a time you had to resolve conflict with a team member and what was the outcome?
-What do you know about Con Edison and this particular team. (Gas ops was for converting use of heavy oil (no. 4 or 6) to cleaner no. 2 oil. As well as proposing LNG and clean energy options).
-What do you know about Con Edison's regulator. (NY State Public Service Commission setting oil/elec prices and mentioned recent $11.8 Billion NYS-PSC agreement with Con Edison to modernize electricity grid through 2025)
-Standard questions on work personal work history
-Standard behavior questions
Second Interview
Questions were with initial hiring manager and their boss and held in person in working facility in Bronx. Interview consisted on why Con Edison, asking again on work history and standard behavioral questions.
-I asked more about the details of the role and project management functions and was told it would be more of customer engagement function to call clients and ensure they know options for conversion.
-Asked what their roadblocks were for work
-Asked what success would look like in their role and time line of 6 to 1 year
-Asked about how mentorship is like and training (there was training)
-Mentioned I like to put in extra time than standard workday to get up to speed in new roles but not expected team to do the same.
I believed the final interview went well and as I was escorted to parking lot there were laughs and I was told I would be informed and will definitely get a call. Two days later I got an automated email from BEI Interview that I would not be moving forward with candidacy and thanking me for my time. I did reach out to both hiring managers via email professionally thanking them for the opportunity and if they were able to provide any feedback from the interview. I never heard any response and am a little resentful for the lack of communication and mentioning a call but not following up.
