      Interview

I applied at Column in April 2022, they were pretty reactive and I passed 4 interviews (screening, pair programming, CTO, software engineering manager) on 3 weeks. They conducted the interviews in one of the best ways I’ve been into and I particularly liked their transparency. After my last interview, I never heard back from them again. As I needed to make a choice quickly I sent a follow up mail but they didn’t bother to answer either. From the previous posts it seems to be pretty common for them, I’m a bit disappointed as it gives performative vibes to some positives points, had I known earlier I wouldn’t have waste my time applying to their offer.

      Interview

Once I submitted the application, they took 2 weeks and responded with a meeting invite with their technical recruiter. It was for 30 minutes. It took close to 2 weeks to send me a meeting invite for the next round. It was a pair programming round with one of their senior software engineer. Post which they sent me a rejection mail.

      Interview

The initial interview was pretty standard. We talked about background and I got to know a little more about the company from the interviewer's perspective. I liked their energy and enthusiasm. The technical interview was a little less dialed than I expected. I felt the tasks were not on par with what one would normally see in a 45 minute React technical (that started late) without having any prior access to the files. The pressure got to me, personally I felt like it was hard to perform under those conditions.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The initial interview had questions sprinkled in about why I'd choose certain js libraries and how I handled application state in the past. The technical was coding a controlled React component, making use of a couple provided functions for calculating price and an API that translates use input text into a preview image.
