The interview with the talent acquisition partner was pleasant. She was nice and was able to actually answer some questions about the company, role, etc. The questions she asked were about the general fit, clearly leaving the more technical questions for the 2nd round with the team lead.
The unpleasant part is what followed. At the end of the first interview I was told that I will be informed in 2 days whether I advanced and that I am free to call the person I had an interview with. I received no answer for two weeks, during which time the person also did not pick up their phone. After I wrote them an email asking for direct feedback 2 weeks later, the person sent a generic system rejection email. Disappointing that this is the norm. Immediately creates a sense that the company does not really care about applicants, even the ones that they invited for an interview.
