Filled out application online and sent my resume. I was asked to come in for an interview. Took the morning off work (unpaid). Had to walk in the back door as front and side doors were chained shut. Politely asked two guys standing around where the front office was and pointed in the correct direction. Office was messy and unorganized that 5-people shared. I was politely asked who I was and how I could be helped. Office people had no idea I was coming in. I showed the email stating the time and date for the interview. I was asked to fill out a 4-page application, 90% of this information was already online. Once finished, I was asked to take a design layout test on a computer. I mentioned politely again that I was here for an interview. They said the owner is not here at the moment. They offered to call and should hear from her within 15 min. I was asked to proceed with the test - build an ad (certain dimensions) for a mattress sale using type and colors that popped. I asked if I really needed to take this basic test as I'm applying for Sr. Designer. She said, no, but it was recommended. Started the test. After 30 min I asked if the owner had called in. She had not. It was clear that this was a total waste of time and this company receives a lot of applicants who are not designers. The office woman I spoke with was very professional and nice. Not sure what is happening at this company, but they certainly don't respect appointments. I've never had this happen to me before with ANY interview.
