After sending in an online application, I had a phone interview an HR recruiter. We talked for about 30 minutes. The recruiter told me a bit about the position and then asked me questions about my course projects, such as to describe one of my projects. Simple stuff.
Once I found out that interview was successful and they were moving on to the next step of my application, I was given some homework. First was some very simple coding exercises to emil back with the results. Also I was given a link to an online data sheet with some tens of thousands of entries and I had to create visuals of it. That was due in about a week's time and I would present it via a Skype interview. This interview was more of a technical interview. I believe they liked my visuals, but after presenting them they asked me questions basically involving data science and such which I knew none of. After that interview ended I was told I would hear back if they will hire me or not. Unfortunately I was not.
