The process started off promising with an engaging phone interview lasting about 30 minutes, Afterwards, I moved on to an in-person interview with 2 employees in the department I was seeking employment. This lasted about 2 hours and consisted of pretty generic interview questions that were read from a typed sheet and seemed like they could be used for any position's interview. The next step was a zoom call with a head of the department, which seemed to go relatively well.
After that, I did not hear from anyone for about 3 weeks. I eventually reached out to see if there were any follow up questions/concerns I could help answer. I was told they were still in the process of deciding on a candidate.
When several more weeks passed, I reached out again and was told the position had been filled internally. This was disappointing but understandable. They then suggested I apply for another position within the department, as they had felt I would be a good fit. I promptly scheduled a call to discuss the position and then filled out an application online. It took over 3 months to hear back from anyone. By the time I was sent an automated email saying the position had closed, I had long since decided this was not a company I wanted to work for. After hours of time spent prepping, travelling, and interviewing, I would think that the professional response would at least be a personally typed email. From my experience, this is a very corporate, slightly stuffy company and would not have been a good fit had anything ever came of the interview process.
