I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Chesapeake Medical Products (Baltimore, MD) in Feb 2009
Interview
My initial communication with the company happened when I walked in the company door. The staffing agency that set up the interview had provided me with the names of the key people in the company, what their positions were, and who I'd be interviewing with. I had been told that this was a small, family owned and operated business. I was met at the door by the office assistant who escorted me to the conference room. She then went to inform the owner that I had arrived, and minutes later they both entered the room. The owner, Eric, gave me a very brief overview of the position he needed to fill and why. From the questions he asked during the interview and the snippets of regular conversation we had, it was obvious that he had taken the time to fully read my resume and that the decision to bring me in for an interview was not made lightly. The atmosphere was relaxed, casual and friendly. Afterward, the office assistant introduced me to the Vice-President (Eric's wife) and then Eric gave me a tour of the entire place, all the while pointing out different products and explaining different processes, before he walked me outside. The second interview was just as pleasant. It was also held in the conference room, but this time it was the CFO (Eric's daughter, whom I would have been taking over for) and the office asst. She, too, was very friendly and open. I was given a much more detailed description of the duties I'd be required to perform and then she took the time to thoroughly answer all of my questions before I left. The suite that they occupy is in a building that is only a few years old. I felt welcome and at ease immediately upon entering the office due in part to the surroundings...furniture, artwork, etc... The entire atmosphere was far from corporate, being much more relaxed, but I could tell that it was a business that they take pride in and work very hard to keep. Over all, my impression of the company and the family that owns and runs it was very good.
