I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Charles River Laboratories (Malvern, PA) in May 2014
Interview
met with team, and with management over the course of 4 - 5 hours. Was asked varied questions, was warned at one point that the culture could be difficult (coming from pharma and working as a CRO).
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
what do you expect, what do you know, how would you handle conflict, how would you handle a customer / client that was unreasonable. How are your interpersonal skills. Can you do this type of experiment, do you know this software, do you know this instrument.
The process was straightforward and professional. I first had a phone screening with HR to discuss my background, interest in the role, and basic qualifications. This was followed by a virtual panel interview with scientists and the hiring manager. Questions covered my research experience, technical skills relevant to the lab’s focus, and examples of troubleshooting experimental issues. They also asked about working in a team and adapting to shifting project priorities. The interviewers were friendly, gave clear information about the role, and seemed genuinely interested in my experience. Overall, it was an organized and respectful process with no unexpected or overly tricky questions.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Charles River Laboratories
Interview
Great experience, and was well coordinated. Included research presentation and multiple interviews with different department leads. Teams were friendly and shared their experiences openly. All in all, a great process.
