The interview process was actually insane for this job. Looking back on it, probably the least traditional and off-the-wall process to date that I've ever experienced. So, a chinese recruiter contacted me on linkedin and sent the job application. I applied online, and then went through a prolonged background check process. They called several times to tell me they couldn't find my school transcripts which I had to dig up and provide (weird, never had to do anything like that for a basic QC position..) they also required tons of references which felt a bit much. They told me Chinese language skills were necessary and that my interview might be in Chinese. I had my first interview virtually and it was entirely in English, so that set me up for a weird expectations vs reality. Several disjointed interviews over several weeks later, and I finally got an offer. The offer was staggered, I wasn't to start for several weeks, which also made the transition more difficult in some ways. Overall, it felt very haphazard and disjointed like the Chinese HR/HQ was managing the hiring for the US facility.
