I applied online. I interviewed at Catchmaster - AP&G (Brooklyn, NY) in Aug 2014
Interview
I met with the sole designer of the company in Brooklyn, who was seeking a design partner as they had a bit more on their hands. I applied online, she emailed me about a month later and we set up an interview. The interview itself went well. She was young and friendly and easy to talk to. I think that's the hardest thing though, because when someone so friendly and easy to talk to is the one interviewing you, it's easy to say something that can hurt you without realizing it. About 45 minutes later, the guy in charge of Sales and Marketing went in, and that's when it seemed like I wasn't gonna get it. He focused on my commute, which was about 2 hours, and my lack of experience, even though the description asked for a minimum of one year which I had. He wasn't mean at all, but his focus on those two things let me know that I wasn't getting the job.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Nothing was difficult or unexpected to be honest. She asked what my design process was, but if you're a graphic designer you should have questions like that figured out beforehand. Otherwise, everything was fine.
