I was contacted for a "phone screening" which ended up being a Microsoft Teams call to discuss my background. I answered all the questions asked and seemed to be fine up until they asked if I could tell them my previous salary and what I expected to make with my next job. I told them the numbers and the interviewer promptly told me they couldn't pay that much. I asked if they could give me the salary range for the position to see if I could make it work, to which they refused to tell me. I ended the interview after that.
