Quite a disappointing experience.
The initial stages of the interview were fine, however when it got to the final stages (after the job shadowing etc) leading up to receiving the actual offer, things were not communicated effectively.
I was informed that I was selected for the role and they would like to extend their offer to me. However, during the phone call on the SAME DAY, they mentioned that there had been a sudden change in the hiring process and my application was put on hold and I was free to explore other opportunities they might have.
Quite frankly I think this is very disappointing. It should not have been conveyed to me that I received the job offer before it has been confirmed on their end. It is a waste of the candidates time and effort to attend the interview and the job shadowing only to be told that the job is "put on hold" and is not open for hiring. Why bother interviewing the candidate to begin with then? I hope no one else has to go through this same situation and please look into improving communications within your teams so as to not convey misinformation to future candidates.
