I applied online. I interviewed at CarMax (Richmond, VA) in Nov 2020
Interview
firs there is the hacker rank challenges which are fairly easy. then there were several interviews in one day. most were fine except for one guy which clearly did not care, was on his phone the whole time and was almost impossible to understand when he spoke. left a poor taste in my mouth and made the interview impossible.
I had a phone screen, the lady was really nice and just asked me about my backgrund. usually stuff nothing too intense. didnt get back to be for like 6 months but were very friendly.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at CarMax (Washington, DC) in Jun 2022
Interview
couple of rounds. mostly conversations with engineers and managers. 2 behavioral, 1 technical, 1 technical conversational questions. People were nice. I do feel I was mislead. The interviews went very smoothly and I got great feedback, but ultimately no offer

Question 1
Conversations about the dev stack and then they ask you to write a simple program. It was a method to choose a car with information about it from different data structures
Standard deal with the recruiter, deal with HR, then a phone interview with a hiring manager and others on the same call.
Turns out the job postings have nothing to do with the job being interviewed for. Carmax does bait and switch for their IT positions.
