I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at CarMax (Oklahoma City, OK) in Feb 2018
Interview
Initial phone call that was not planned, but did well enough to get in-person interview. I was prepared for the interview, motivated, and had sales experience. Unfortunately, they sit you down at a computer for you to fill out the last 7 years of residence, and questions if you respond with "yes" to, you are bound to not get the job. Example: "Have you done drugs/been intoxicated/have a felony...etc. in the last 7 years?" This part gave me the impression that the start of a work relationship with CARMAX is based on mistrust. This part took the wind out of my sails because I hadn't even had interview yet. Then you go to a room for them to talk about any work discrepancies. The person who interviewed me said they had 12 years working there, but still had to read from a script. (That is telling.) Then, they make you wait to talk with more people about sales scenarios, which I thought I did well at. During this Q&A time, they would jot comments about my responses as I was speaking so I had very little eye contact. Their heads would bob up and down. It was a little disconcerting. I received an impersonal company email just today that I did not get the job. No reason why. The process could have been better. I guess it is best I did not get hired there. I was surprised not to go on to the next step in the process.

Amazing! They sit you down and go over the company and then ask you about prior experience. They do go through a role play and then grade you off that.
