      Technical Support Representative Interview

      14 Jan 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Canon Canada

      Interview

Applied for the Technical Support Representative role. Job posting on Glassdoor showed a 50-60k range or that is what I recall seeing. Got the HR screening interview today. Interview started off ok. No enthusiasm from the Talent acquisition rep. Expressionless the entire time and got right into the questions. He provided a brief background on the role, and mentioned how its mandatory in office and there's 2 shifts which we have to rotate - I knew this from job description but it seems like he wanted to "warn" rather than advise. Then proceeded to ask about my background, why im applying and if I have experience with Canon printers. Answered all questions thoroughly. Gets into the salary discussion. Asks me what im looking for. I asked him what they offer. He says he cannot say. I said Canons Glassdoor posting says this and this (50-60). He argues Glassdoor is not accurate. I provided my currently salary and my minimum which is 65. He said im well above and they are offering 40-45. He then asks, why I applied anyway if my minimum is 65 but the range is 50-60 on Glassdoor. I advised some companies can afford to pay for the experience as he mentioned himself that I had quite the experience. He reiterated again that Glassdoor is not accurate. I advised it was posted by Canon and then added a closing statement as I did not want to waste my time anymore arguing with the Talent Acquisition Rep. He immediately sends an automated email response that says "we have decided to move forward with other candidates whose skills and experiences more closely align with our current needs." How unprofessional. They are looking for Candidates they can afford is what should be said.

      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Canon Canada (Toronto, ON) in Jan 2020

      Interview

Pretty straight, panel of 3 people. A lot of scenario based questions were asked relating to my resume. Interview lasted for about an hour. I found it really interesting because the interviewers made the whole process really straight forward and they did their best to put me at ease. It really was like a conservation more than an interview
