I interviewed for a Marketing Manager role with Canals in Q1 2026. The initial recruiter screen went well, and they outlined a structured process: interviews with the hiring manager, CMO, VP of Sales, and another leadership team member, followed by a take-home assignment.
The hiring manager interview also went well from my perspective. After that, communication stalled for about a week, and the process shifted without explanation. Instead of continuing with interviews, I was asked to complete a take-home assignment and present it in a 90-minute session with just the hiring manager. I’ve seen presentation steps before, but they are typically shorter and involve a panel, so this felt unusually extensive.
I completed the assignment and presented it within a week. The conversation seemed to go fine, but the next day I received a brief note saying there wasn’t an ideal fit at this time. That’s completely fair, but given the time investment, I was hoping for some constructive feedback. I followed up to ask, but never received a response.
Overall, the experience felt disjointed and left me with an odd impression of the process.
