I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Can-Am Consultants (Henrietta, NY)
Interview
My experience with this company left a bad impression of working there. The manager responded to my online application quickly, and he requested to have an interview scheduled ASAP. I agreed to participate in the interview on the next day.
However, the manager failed to tell me that the interview would be a set of multiple interactions lasting about two hours. Furthermore, he also failed to tell me that I would meet the owner of the business in his office and country-club group. I was interviewed by the owner and two other managers without preparation. He also had me sit with three recruiting reps for 20 minutes each.
The owner told me that he expects all reps to be "successful" which required 47-50 hours a week (salaried compensation). The original manager stated 43 hours per week, then he changed his verbiage after I mentioned that detail to the owner. The owner expressed some arrogance when he described the reasons why they were hiring: (a) the people who left those positions did not want to commit to his expectation of 47-50 hours weekly, and (b) some "tried to tell him to change things". His exact words were "I've been doing this for years, for a long time. I don't need someone telling me how to do things differently."
The original manager said that they would have their decisions made by Friday last week. When I called him on Friday, he stated they changed their minds and wanted to interview more on Monday. I received his rejection email today on Thursday afternoon. He stated that they picked one person, although the owner said they were looking for three people, and the manager said most likely two.
In a nutshell, they showed disrespect toward my valuable time, spoke inconsistencies, expressed negative attitudes about openness to employee input, and did not have the decency to tell me that were not interested during the week prior. Don't apply to this company unless you are desperate! They certainly did a favor for me.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Look, people say all the time that they will do the job despite the amount of hours required to be successful. So, what are you thinking? - The owner asked this question.
I applied online. I interviewed at Can-Am Consultants (Richmond Hill, ON) in Sept 2017
Interview
They did not specify what is the position about on the first interview. I applied for the Public Relations position and it turned out to be just a sales job. Moreover, while I was sitting in the hall waiting for the interview - The girl at the front desk called at least 4 more people to set up a job interview. Same job description for everyone, despite the fact that job titles were different.
