Sent in resume, HR Director contacted me and had brief conversation, was invited in for a "first" interview. I believe the job was posted on craigslist or Linkedin, either one. The nice thing about the process was there were no recruiters involved, which reduces the chances of getting a face to face interview down to just above zero. The office is easy to find and get to. They own their own building and have a niche market selling insurance to cities and towns and other non-profit firms.
Of course, I was told how great the people were, how nice the company is to work at, how execs have an "open door" policy, and all that other feel-good nonsense..
In the end, just like most other firms that no nothing about recruiting, they never got back to me; no rejection letter, no follow-up of any kind, nothing but silence. Always know that the way you are treated in an interview is ABSOLUTELY the way you will be treated as an employee. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior, whether or not the candidate is a good fit or not.
One more thing... why do companies immediately ask you for background check forms and then fail to execute any follow-up after the interview? I will not be doing this again for any employer unless an offer is imminent.
