      Interview

No healthy, legitimate agency behaves this way during hiring. After completing the application, candidates are asked to complete an irrelevant bonus question which would never have been asked if they were truly the experts they claim to be. Even so, candidates are then immediately required to complete a one-hour skills test. What skills are being tested, you may ask? I have no idea, because there was zero management of my expectations, and I’m not sure what skills you need an hours’ worth of testing to assess for what is essentially a project management position, nor should any company be requiring this much time from a candidate up front without even the courtesy of an initial phone screen. And no… I will not be spending an hour+ on your skills test, as I am an experienced and active candidate (and this is not a technical role). No one should be jumping through these hoops. It’s a joke. When I received a follow-up email inviting me to move forward, I requested that my application be removed from consideration. Between the hour+ skills test and the additional requirement to submit a “short introductory video” video of myself (they say 15 minutes!) it is extremely clear that this would be the worst kind of company to work for.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Congratulations on making it to the next stage of our recruitment process for our Digital Producer position at Coalition Technologies! We reviewed your application and would like to move forward. The next step is to take our timed skills test interview at your convenience. Our goal is to identify the best candidates while being respectful of your time. We use a system that allows you to submit a short introductory video of yourself (only required for some tests), as well as take a skills test demonstrating your abilities. The system saves hours of your time by allowing you to do the interview at a time and place of your choosing where you are most comfortable. If we feel you would be a good fit for us, we will contact you for the final interview which will be conducted with a recruiter via Zoom. The skills test will include: Questionnaire: 55 minutes; Video Interview (video camera needed): 15 minutes The skills test will take approximately 70 minutes. Please keep in mind that if you do need more time to complete a test, you should feel free to take it as the test will not cut off. It will show us the time you took to complete it, but this is a fairly small factor. When you are set up at a computer with the necessary tools (including the ability to record an interview video if the test includes it, your smartphone or laptop camera will work fine) for the skills test and have enough time to take the full skills test, please click on the link below. If you run into any problems, please email your interviewer or careers@coalitiontechnologies.com. Keep in mind all questions are optional, but you will earn more points if you answer all of them! Good luck and have fun! The recommended amount of time to complete this test is 70 minutes. However, your score will not be affected if you choose to spend longer on this task.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CT (Culver City, CA)

      Interview

You will first interview with a recruiter, who will give you the overview of the rest of the process. You are given a skills assessment, but don't let that deter you--it's to determine at what Digital Producer "level" to onboard you if you make it through the hiring team rounds and they decide to hire you. After the skills assessment, the recruiter that you talked to initially will either let you know it's not a fit at this time or will schedule you to interview with leadership. I rated the interview process as "difficult" not so much because of technical difficulty, but because it is one of the longer and more thorough interview processes I have experienced. Honestly, not a bad thing at all. During the time I worked there, I was impressed with 99% of the team members I worked with. They do a pretty good job of hiring the right people for the right roles.

      Interview

Video submission and application followed by a skills test which was fairly demanding but straightforward. The overall interview process took several months before an offer was extended. Overall, the process was smooth and very comfortable, albeit a bit long.

      Question 1

There were less interview questions and more focus on the skills testing.
