Interview
It is a behavioral based interview to which you have to use experiences you had as far as your decision making and processes that let up to that decision. Not the typical interview.

Question 1
Can you recall a situation in which you had to think on the fly to better serve a customer or when you was broke down to get back going while not having a lot to work with?
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CPKC in Dec 2025
Interview
I applied online and got a screening call a few days later. We scheduled a Microsoft Teams interview for the next week. Basic scripted questions. One interviewer was very uninterested in the interview as they were working during the interview. They said I would have a decision made by end of week. I didn't hear anything so I emailed for an update and then noticed a change in the status of my application as "No longer under consideration." Still no email. If I wouldn't have checked I still wouldn't know I got rejected. Very unprofessional.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CPKC in Jan 2023
Interview
about 30 minutes of questions related to safety, job duties, shift schedule, and radio use. Friendly staff. No reason to fret about the process for prospective hires. All in all a very straightforward and efficient process.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at CPKC (Kansas City, MO) in Feb 2019
Interview
The interview was timely and professional. Typical preprinted questions but these are your opportunities to shine. If you are serious about safety, working at all hours in all conditions and have the work history to demonstrate it the interview is pretty straightforward.
