      Software Engineer Interview

      29 Aug 2012
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at CLEAR (New York, NY)

      Interview

The interview process was pretty interesting. After having applied on LinkedIn, shortly afterwards I got a call from a woman in Denver (who was completely lovely). We chatted, and she got an idea as to my technical background, and asked some behavioural questions. Easy enough. I made it to the next round of the interview, to which they asked me to come into their office in the city. I went to their office (which is relatively small; roughly 7-10 people) and spoke with the gentleman that I'd be reporting to in oneof their conference rooms. That portion of the interview was not technical at all. Compared to many of the other interviews I've been on, I don't feel as if they were prepared to interview me. He printed my resume, and read over it asking me about my experience. I would have liked and/or expected more in-depth questions as to my experience, what I know, how I'd handle certain scenarios, etc. The interesting point there is, I believe I did well during that interview. The gentlemen even mentioned that I was highly rated, highly accredited, and would be great for the job. From there, I heard nothing at all. I don't know if they were expecting me to follow up to setup the next appointment, but I would think that's something their HR person is in charge of (as I don't have access to their employee calendars.) I also found out during the interview that was posted online was not very accurate to the job I was actually being interviewed for. I found that very frustrating as I would not have applied to the job to begin with had they been more accurate with their job description

      New York, NY
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I interviewed at CLEAR (New York, NY)

      Interview

Call with recruiter, one hour tech screen, one hour data structure interview, one hour system design interview, one hour collaboration interview Nothing was too hard. But the interviewers were a little impersonal. One of the interviewers was pretty obviously messaging someone as I was answering her questions.

      Software Engineer Interview

      9 Aug 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CLEAR

      Interview

Interviews were average difficulty but definitely easier and shorter process compared to other companies. I had a negative experience with one engineer who was rude and standoffish, seemed full of himself and would definitely be hard to work with. What was most frustrating about the interview process was the lack of communication and broken promises by the recruiter. I was told several times that I would hear back the next day only to hear nothing despite following up. At the end of the process I received a rejection but the whole experience left a sour taste in my mouth. I wouldn't want to work there if their communication with external candidates is so poor. If you're not ready to communicate a decision, then say so as opposed to repeatedly telling the candidate you'll hear back EOD several times in a row. I can only imagine what chaos is happening internally for that to happen.

      Software Engineer Interview

      20 Jul 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at CLEAR (New York, NY) in Jun 2023

      Interview

Recruiter reached out for a phone screening with a no-reply email. I had to find his name in the signature to look the guy up on LinkedIn, guess his company email and reach out to schedule a specific time for the call. On the phone call, the recruiter was very disinterested. I could barely get a word in. His demeanor was detached and passive-aggressive. After making it through the phone screening, I was scheduled for a technical interview with two senior engineers. I can't describe the challenge, nor the topics we discussed, but I thought it went well. About 4 weeks passed without any notice, until I reached out directly to the recruiter. Instead of responding directly to my inquiry, he sent me an automated decline email.
