I applied through university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at CGI (Fairfax, VA) in Feb 2012
Interview
CGI recruited at my school. I was able to do a first-round interview on grounds. It was a very informal interview. We pretty much just had an open conversation without any direct questions.
I got a callback to go to their location in northern Virginia for the next round of interviews (2 were scheduled on the same day). The first interviewer was younger and asked the standard questions that are on the list - pretty straightforward questions. Next interview was with a more senior lady who was much more informal and conversational. She didn't ask any direct interview questions - just made friendly conversation about interesting things on my resume and her own background.
CGI scheduled the interview for 30 minutes and there was only one interviewer. He initially asked basic questions about background and experience. He explained about the company and was open to questions
Was super laid back and casual, the interviewer was super nice! Still had typical interview questions (describe a time where..., etc) but overall pretty stress-free first-round interview.
Lasted about 40-45 minutes as the interviewer was very conversational as well. Only advice I can give is to be personable and have a conversation.
I applied online. I interviewed at CGI in Oct 2025
Interview
Applied online, was told to connect with a recruiter at my university's job fair. They forwarded along my resume. There was a phone interview over Handshake. There was another interview with 2 parts (a technical and a personal) a few weeks later. The interviewer was around 10 minutes late with no communication which threw off the second interview. There was also supposed to be a Q&A the same day, but it got rescheduled to several weeks later. There was very little communication unless I initiated it. The whole process felt very unprofessional.
