      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Butternut Box

      Interview

A really long process that to me felt like they were stripping potential candidates of ideas. I was asked to complete a task twice which took a lot of time and effort. For my face to face interview I had done a lot of research and felt like it was wasted. One interviewer was unable to attend and the other 2 seemingly did not care. Felt so rushed and disorganised. First interviewer told me to ‘get on with it’ when they saw they were running out of time. Second interviewer spoke about themselves for 90% of interview and asked me 2 pointless questions.

Pointless questions for example 'would you change your degree if you could?'

      Interview

Okay interview, fairly tick box and not a particularly friendly interviewer. Received a generic email informing me I had not secured the job. I replied requesting feedback however never received a reply.

We are very sorry to hear that you didn't have an enjoyable interview experience with us. We have a task stage for almost all roles here at Butternut as they help us to understand how a candidate would approach something. We would never use or re-purpose the work of a candidate. If you were asked to try the task again this is because we saw potential in your first attempt but perhaps it wasn't quite along the right lines. If an interviewer is unable to attend, we always make sure you meet another manager without delaying the overall interview process. I am really sorry to hear you felt the interview was rushed and disorganised as a lot of effort goes into planning face to face interviews. We will definitely take your feedback on board and look into what happened here. Creating a great candidate experience is massively important to us. If you have any other feedback, please feel free to reach out to us directly.

      Junior Marketing Executive Interview

      29 Nov 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Butternut Box in Nov 2019

      Interview

I applied through Linked In. The process took around 5 weeks. I received an email to say my CV looked interesting and they wanted to discuss my experience and interest in the role further. I got this email exactly 4 weeks after I first applied. I was offered a video interview and chose a time slot for the following week. On the day of the interview I was told ‘unfortunately we have moved forward with someone else who fit the role better’. My interview was cancelled about 3 hours before it was supposed to take place. This was frustrating as I had prepared for the interview and taken a lot of time to really research the company. I felt that if they weren’t willing to interview me and allow me to explain my experience, skills and interest in their company or that they didn’t think I’d be suited then they shouldn’t have given me an offer for a video interview at all. I understand they must have found someone who was a perfect fit and had many applicants but to not even finish all the interviews you’ve agreed to was really disappointing. They must’ve seen something in my application to offer me an interview, so why not let me show them why they should hire me. They seem a great company with a lovely work culture but this just made the whole situation even more frustrating. Don’t decide to not interview someone if you’ve offered them an interview! My advice to any applicants would be book an early slot.
