      Writer Interview

      10 Aug 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Portland, OR
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Bonfire Marketing (Portland, OR)

      Interview

I applied online and was asked to come in for an interview the next day. The company president and director of operations both interviewed me and it felt like they were playing "good cop/bad cop." The company president seemed distant, uninterested, and unimpressed by all of my answers, while the director of operations was a little more engaging. Ultimately, they offered me the job that afternoon - the company president refused to negotiate the salary offer, even though it was a several thousand dollar cut from the job I was leaving. They asked if I could start two days from the interview and appeared annoyed when I asked to give my current employer a two-week notice. I compromised and gave a one-week notice to my employer and told Bonfire I could be "on-call" if they really needed me. I accepted because I wanted to leave the previous job, but the interview process felt frantic and disorganized and left a bad taste in my mouth.
