- Recruiter reached out via LinkedIn
- I requested a call to gather more info about the role, in order to confirm my interest
- Recruiter called at the set time
- Recruiter assumed for some reason that it was a screening call for him to ask questions, while clearly, the request was to get more clarity about the role/culture/day on day/team dynamics/etc.
- Recruiter seemed to have been taken aback a bit by my asking for details, while in written correspondence that was clearly discussed as the context of the call with him
- When asked about company culture, he started listing out amenities in the Toronto office, which one, doesn't apply to a remote hire on the West Coast and two doesn't define company culture
- Recruiter wasn't able to explain how would a hire on West Coast would work day on day with a team out on East coast (3 hour time difference!). I'd have been okay to hear, "I don't know, but the next person can explain better", but rather got a vague answer which didn't confirm anything for me
- Organization seemed to have not done the research for salary ranges on the west coast for the role. Their JD says that they are looking for a Sr Tech Recruiter in Toronto with over 5+ yrs of experience, yet they reach out to individuals with over 10 yrs of experience and confirm that the salary ask is too high. This is a complete waste of time on both ends. If you are looking for a mediocre talent with a limited number of years of experience, maybe only focus on your search for that.
- Overall, I didn't feel like this was the right opportunity or the role to go with and communicated the same to the recruiter respectfully via LinkedIn message, but they didn't even care to acknowledge. Just crickets! Talks a lot about candidate focus, experience, relationship building, and how the TA team functions
Hope this review helps them improve how the communication goes with potential candidates.
