I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Bloomfire (Austin, TX) in Dec 2021
Interview
The interview began with a technical phone screen, went to a take-home exam, and ended with a virtual onsite. The interviewers were not prepared, rude, struggled to communicate/convey technical concepts, and seemed to lack much industry experience. After about an hour of them struggling, the final round was abruptly cut off. I withdrew before knowing the outcome of the interview. Overall, I'd say if you have any talent as an engineer that you'd be better served by applying elsewhere. It's an unknown startup with less than .02% market share that effectively collects other businesses' intellectual property, internal company info, docs, memos, etc. - not the scammiest place out there but probably not the most reputable. Seemed to lack any industry experience with security or privacy concepts. Again, would avoid if possible.
Phone screen followed by a virtual onsite that involved writing a script to fetch and process data from the public Bloomfire API. The interview session was interactive and the exercise was similar to the kind of thing you might actually do on the job. There were also some pretty standard culture fit questions.
